Trump Makes Bittersweet Announcement After Winning Golf Club Championship

This week, President Donald Trump suggested that he might be close to finishing his golfing career.
After a strong performance on the same golf course where he faced an assassination attempt last August, Trump, who won the annual tournament at his Palm Beach County club, said it could be “probably my last.”
At the Trump International Golf Club in Palm Beach County, Florida, I recently claimed victory in the Golf Club Championship, which I believe will be my last one. It’s such a great honor! Tonight, we have the Awards Dinner at the Club. I want to thank the fantastic golf staff and all the wonderful players who participated in the event. It was a blast! Trump shared this in a post on social media, according to the Daily Caller.
Since it acts as President Trump’s garden at his Mar-a-Lago home, the whole golf course is seen as the most important one, even though it’s just one of 18 courses owned by the Trump Organization around the world. He has been signing executive orders and making surprise press appearances at the property almost every weekend since he took office.
The day before the golf event, the White House shared pictures of President Trump in golf clothes while he watched American missiles strike Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen.
Trump’s passion for golf has been a big part of his public image, giving his supporters one last chance to see him enjoying his favorite hobby.
A recent NBC News poll shows that more Americans believe the country is moving in the right direction than at any time since 2004, and three months into his second term, Trump’s approval rating reached its highest point during his presidency.
However, the bad news is that Trump still hasn’t gained the support of most Americans.
In fact, according to NBC’s polling, 54% of people are dissatisfied with how he’s handling the economy, marking the first time he has lost majority support on this issue.
The New York Post, referencing the NBC News survey, reported that “the survey found that voters generally feel Trump is bringing ‘the right kind of change’ on important issues — even tariffs.” NBC also noted that 41% of Americans support his changes to trade policy, while 38% are against them.
According to The Post, a recent NBC poll shows that people are giving Trump some leeway on inflation: 40% believe his policies are beneficial, 30% think they are harmful, and 28% feel they have no impact.
The poll reveals a stark divide, with Trump enjoying a 90% approval rating among Republicans but only 4% among Democrats. NBC notes that this is the largest gap in approval ratings between a president’s party and the opposing party in the last 80 years.
Trump’s support is at an all-time high, with 47% of voters backing him and 51% against him. He previously reached 47% approval before the COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020 and again in October 2018.
The Post highlights that NBC’s findings align with most other polls, as the latest average from RealClearPolitics shows Trump with an approval rating of 48.2%.
According to RCP, Trump’s current approval is notably higher than it was during the same time in his first term (44%), but still trails behind former President Joe Biden’s rating of 53%.
Interestingly, 44% of registered voters believe the country is moving in the right direction—the highest figure in 20 years—while 54% think it is going the wrong way, which is a positive sign for Trump.
This is the most hopeful outlook on the nation’s future in the poll since George W. Bush’s presidency two decades ago, even though the overall sentiment remains mostly negative.
This marks a significant shift compared to the previous administration.
In September of last year, only 28% of voters surveyed by NBC News felt the country was on the right track, while 65% believed it was headed in the wrong direction.
