The real reason the new MSNBC boss lost his temper and decisively signed an order to stop the program and mercilessly fire Joy Reid, once again confirming what we suspected
Joy Reid made a big mistake with her controversial social media posts, which led MSNBC executives to cancel her show, The Reid Out, according to an industry expert.
Status News mentioned that Reid’s frequent anti-Trump comments made MSNBC leaders uneasy, especially since they want to create a news network that sounds less biased during Trump’s second term.
Her strong support for very progressive issues gave critics a chance to challenge MSNBC’s editorial choices as the network works to change its programming and improve its low ratings, Status reported.
Comcast executive Mark Lazarus is looking to change the idea that Republicans don’t get a fair deal from the network by shifting towards a more acceptable form of progressivism.
Trump has called the network ‘losers’ and insulted MSNBC chairman Brian Roberts by calling him a ‘Lowlife Chairman,’ while also labeling Reid as a ‘mentally obnoxious racist.’
Last year, it seemed like Reid’s time at MSNBC was limited when her five-year contract ended, and she was only given a one-year extension.
On Monday, Reid hosted the ReidOut, where she held a meeting with her fellow MSNBC anchors, warning that ‘fascism isn’t just coming, it’s already here.’
Reid made sure to link Trumpism with fascism before bringing together what she referred to as her ‘superfriends’ from the struggling network.

Reid made her final appearance on The Reid Out on Monday, standing firm in her beliefs and saying she doesn’t regret her opinions shared on TV and social media.
During a summit with Rachel Maddow, Lawrence O’Donnell, and Nicole Wallace, they all praised Reid and shared their sadness about the show’s end, but they didn’t say anything negative about their bosses.
The liberal commentator got emotional as she spoke out on a podcast Sunday after being let go from the network.
Reid made it clear that she feels ‘not sorry’ even though The Reid Out has been canceled as MSNBC plans to change its programming.

MSNBC leader Rebecca Kutler called a meeting with Reid’s team on Sunday, and it quickly became very emotional and tense.
“I’ve felt so many things… anger, rage, disappointment, hurt… and even guilt. I feel like I let my team down by losing their jobs,” Reid shared during a Zoom chat with the Win With Black Women podcast.
“But in the end, what I really feel is gratitude. Just pure gratitude. Not only because people took the time to join this call and support me, but also because my show mattered.”
Reid became emotional as she talked about how she doesn’t regret being tough on important issues like Black Lives Matter and immigrant rights during her primetime show.
“Whether it’s discussing these topics or talking about Gaza, we as Americans have the right to speak out against the bombing of innocent children,” Reid added.
I stand by my beliefs and I don’t regret defending them because they are important to me and connected to my faith.
The Reid Out was canceled due to low ratings, and this news was leaked early Sunday before being confirmed by her bosses later that day.
Kutler told the staff of The Reid Out on Sunday that Donald Trump had nothing to do with the cancellation. She explained that the network made these changes based on “data analysis and programming strategy” to help MSNBC succeed in the upcoming year.
She mentioned that the cancellation is part of a larger set of programming changes that will be announced on Monday.
According to the New York Post, Katie Phang, Jonathan Capehart, and Ayman Mohyeldin have also lost their current timeslots.
Additionally, NBC News confirmed on Monday that Lester Holt is stepping down from his well-known Nightly News position.

Reid has had a broadcasting career that spans thirty years, but it hasn’t been without its share of controversies. Things really took a turn for her in 2017 when old homophobic comments she made about former Florida governor Charlie Crist from 2007 to 2009 resurfaced.
In 2018, more anti-gay comments were discovered on her blog from 2006, which she claimed were the result of hackers. Additionally, other posts from 2006 were revealed, including one where she said that modern Islam doesn’t fit well with Western ideas of free speech and democracy.
In 2020, she upset a lot of people by comparing radical Trump supporters to how she perceived Muslims to behave, which led Trump to demand her dismissal. After an assassination attempt on Trump last summer, Reid faced backlash for posting conspiracy theories on X, suggesting that he might not have even been shot at all.
