Melissa Gilbert Stands Firm After Husband Timothy Busfield Surrenders to Police on Child Sex Abuse Allegations

Melissa Gilbert vows unwavering support for husband Timothy Busfield following his surrender to authorities on Tuesday amid grave child sex abuse claims.
Albuquerque Police issued an arrest warrant five days prior, accusing the 68-year-old actor-director of unlawful sexual acts with 11-year-old twins during production of The Cleaning Lady.
Busfield complied on January 13, four days post-warrant. A Los Angeles Times source confirmed with Albuquerque PD that he entered Metro Detention Center that day.
In a TMZ video, Busfield rejected the accusations outright: “I’m gonna confront these lies, they’re horrible.”

Latest updates place him in custody as prosecutors weigh pretrial detention.
Little House on the Prairie alumna Gilbert pledges solidarity, per her rep: “She honors Tim’s lawyers’ request to stay silent during legal proceedings.”
The statement continues: “Her priority remains supporting their extensive family through this ordeal.”
“Melissa fully backs her husband and will speak publicly when timing fits. Privacy pleas for them all.”
The couple wed in 2013.
Bernalillo County DA’s Office confirms formal charges: two counts criminal sexual contact with a minor (under 13) and one child abuse.

“Timothy Busfield sits in Bernalillo County Metropolitan Detention Center,” officials stated.
“Charges: two counts Criminal Sexual Contact of a Minor (child under 13), one Child Abuse.”
“The Bernalillo County DA seeks pretrial custody hold as case advances,” it notes.
“A judge rules on detention versus release. Such motions standard for these offenses.”
Busfield addressed claims pre-surrender in a viral clip: “Hi everybody, it’s Tim. I’m sure most of you know, that are watching this, that I was ordered to come to Albuquerque – I’m here now. I got the call Friday night, I had to get a lawyer. Saturday I got in the car, drove 2,000 miles to Albuquerque. I’m gonna confront these lies. They’re horrible.”
He insisted: “They’re all lies and I did not do anything to those little boys and I’m gonna fight it. I’m gonna fight it with a great team, and I’m gonna be exonerated, I know I am, because this is all so wrong and all lies.”
“So hang in there and hopefully I’m out real soon and back to work,” he wrapped. “I love everybody for supporting me, thank you.”
