Donald Trump regrets never dating Princess Diana

Donald Trump allegedly viewed Diana as the “ultimate trophy wife,” a perspective that has generated various reactions and headlines throughout the years.

It is fair to assert that Donald Trump has maintained a contentious relationship with women. In the 1970s, he was wed to Czech model Ivana, but their marriage deteriorated following his affair with Marla Maples. He subsequently married Marla, yet that union also concluded in divorce.

As of this writing, he is married to Slovenian model Melania Trump. Nevertheless, numerous scandals have also involved different women. For instance, there was the secret audio recording in which Trump discussed groping women without their consent.

Donald Trump later expressed regret for his remarks. In 2019, journalist Elizabeth Jean Carroll accused Trump of raping her in the 1990s. Trump was found liable for sexual assault and was ordered to compensate Carroll.

Many may recall the incident involving porn actress Stormy Daniels, who alleged a brief affair with him in 2006. Trump was convicted on 34 counts related to the financial handling of hush money paid to her.

The $130,000 was classified as a campaign expense, but it was reportedly intended to silence her regarding the affair. When it comes to women, however, there is one thing he laments: he never succeeded in getting Princess Diana “on the hook.”

In his 1997 publication, The Art of the Comeback, he remarked, as reported by the Daily Mail, ‘I never had the opportunity to court Lady Diana Spencer.’

‘I met her on a number of occasions,’ he continued. ‘I couldn’t help but notice how she moved people. She lit up the room with her charm, her presence. She was a genuine princess – a dream lady.’

According to a media source, Donald Trump attempted to win her over as the “ultimate trophy wife” following her divorce from then-Prince Charles. The source also references the Sunday Times, where Selina Scott, a former BBC journalist and friend of Diana, shares her recollections of conversations with the princess.

In a column for the Sunday Times, Selina Scott reminisced about the large bouquets of flowers that were delivered to Diana’s residence at Kensington Palace.

This approach mirrored the strategy he employed when courting his first wife, Ivana.

‘Trump evidently viewed Diana as the ultimate trophy wife,’ Scott noted. ‘As the roses and orchids accumulated at her apartment, she grew increasingly anxious about how to respond. It started to feel as though Trump was stalking her.’

During a private dinner, the princess confided in Scott.

‘“What am I going to do?” she inquired. “He gives me the creeps.”

‘”Just throw them in the bin,” I suggested. Diana laughed.’

‘When she passed away in Paris in 1997, Trump [reportedly] expressed to friends that his greatest regret was that they had not dated.

‘He mentioned that he always believed he had a chance at romance and would have had a “shot” with her.’

People Magazine has also previously pointed out an old interview with Trump from 1997, shortly after Diana’s death, in which he claimed that he could have had a sexual encounter with Diana if she had only undergone an HIV test first.
