Donald Trump administration deports 10-year-old US citizen recovering from brain cancer surgery

Reports indicate that a young girl recovering from brain cancer has been deported.

Last month, immigration officials halted a Texas family and sent them back to Mexico while they were on their way to a medical appointment for their 10-year-old daughter.

Customs and Border Protection detained the girl and her parents at an immigration checkpoint as they traveled from Rio Grande to Houston.

Houston is home to the specialists treating their daughter, and according to the family’s attorney, they had successfully made this trip five times before without any problems.

On earlier occasions, undocumented parents were permitted to pass through the checkpoint after presenting letters from their lawyers and doctors. However, this time was different.

When they submitted the letters, which had previously been accepted, authorities deemed them inadequate and arrested the parents, despite the lawyer’s assertion that they had no criminal history.

At the time of the arrest, a 10-year-old girl and four other children were in the vehicle.

Except for one, all the children are U.S. citizens, having been born in the country.

Faced with the choice of being deported as a couple or as a family, the parents opted to remain together and return to Mexico.

They made this decision because, without their parents, the children could be placed in foster care in the U.S., complicating any potential reunification.

The 10-year-old girl is currently recovering from brain surgery after being diagnosed with brain cancer last year.

Since the tumor removal, doctors in Houston have been closely monitoring her condition with regular check-ups.

According to the mother, who spoke to NBC, authorities took the family to a detention center, separating her and her daughters from her husband and sons, before CBP agents loaded the family into a van and transported them to Mexico.

The family initially resided in a shelter before being relocated to a house.

However, the children are anxious about their safety due to reports of US citizens being kidnapped in their new area.

Tragically, the couple’s 15-year-old son is also unwell, suffering from Long QT syndrome, a heart condition that leads to irregular heartbeats and can be life-threatening if not treated properly.

The mother shared with NBC News that since their deportation, the children are unable to access the necessary healthcare.

In December of the previous year, Tom Homan, President Donald Trump’s border chief, was questioned about the deportation of mixed-status families. He responded to The Washington Post by placing the blame for family separations on the parents, saying, “Here’s the issue. You knew you were in the country illegally and chose to have a child. So you put your family in that position.”

Since taking office on January 20, Trump has been focused on tightening US border security and has made it clear that he intends to enforce deportation strictly.
